Mission Statement

LOHC is dedicated to empowering women to become self-sufficient catalysts for change. We believe in fostering a community where women uplift and inspire each other, creating a ripple effect of transformation. Our mission is to provide a “hand up, not a handout,” ensuring that every woman has the tools and support needed to succeed. Through strategic partnerships with local organizations, we measure our success by the lasting, positive impact women make in their communities—today and for future generations.

Rev. Marlella (Marrie) Thomas is a Licensed Ordained Minister and lifelong resident of Fayette County. She earned her ministry license from Greater Works Outreach School of Ministry (2005) and a bachelor’s degree in Christian Counseling from Cornerstone University (2014) with a minor in Christian Education. As a Certified Temperament Counselor and Pastoral Member of the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling, she is dedicated to guiding and uplifting others.

Alongside her husband, Rev. James Thomas, she co-pastors Antioch Baptist Church in Edenborn. With over 36 years of marriage, three sons, and a growing family of grandchildren, she embodies faith and service.

Driven by her own experiences, Pastor Marrie founded Legacy of Hope Center to empower women in Fayette County, breaking cycles of low self-esteem and limited opportunities. Having once felt trapped by a “this is all there is” mindset, she is now committed to providing women with hope, resources, and a safe haven to build brighter futures.
